No, that's not the name of a movie I saw, I just had a really brutal nightmare.

My nightmare was set in my apartment, in my bathroom, until right at the end.

Basically, I was in the shower, shampooing, and suddenly I just knew (like you just KNOW things in dreams) that an ex-girlfriend had just let herself in. That wouldn't have been so bad, but in my dream this ex-girlfriend had become a vampire. She could get into my apartment because I had invited her in lots of times.

Soooo this pre... Continue »

We must have talked about this before, on here. I can't find any threads though. Any fans? I am not going to be able to compose a very intelligible post right now, because I'm trying to sleep. But, I was just thinking about this movie, so here's a link to watch it if you want, and I'll come back tomorrow and say stuff about it. Just briefly: it has a pretty great cast, with Katharine Ross, Sam Elliott, Roger Daltrey (!?! yes, seriously), and some less famous people. It's 70s as HELL, ha ha... Continue »

I'm just gonna start a thread about this one, if anybody has thoughts, pls share 'em here.

OK, to start out, this felt like a cautionary sci-fi film modeled on The Portrait of Dorian Gray, co-directed by David Cronenberg, Brian Yuzna, and possibly Lucky McKee??? You'll know what I mean by that, if you've seen it.

Demi Moore looks QUITE respectable for her age, in this. She would have been 60 or 61 during filming, and she's plausibly playing a woman just turning 50. But, as good as she looks,... Continue »

Funny, I recently mentioned this movie in a shout. It came out in 2020 to some small theatrical showings, but has been MIA on physical media and streaming, until now. Not sure exactly when it showed up, but has to have been very recently. It's on Troma Now for a subscription fee, but is playing on Fawesome for free with some ads.

The term "shitstorm" is appropriate, as plotwise, this movie is a fucking mess. Honestly, I'm not really sure what it was about. It's supposedly based on Shakespeare's... Continue »

I was looking for that thread where all movies were listed where someone is wearing a gorilla or monkey suit. Maybe it was on the old IMDb board and didn't make it to this site but I could have sworn it did. I have spent the last 20 minutes trying to find it but I must be an idiot that can't figure out how to use the search button properly.

Why was this a priority? Save the replaceable platform so underage girls can continue to shake their booties to try to get out of having real jobs?

I like Twin Peaks most because it's such a moody trip. I like Blue Velvet, but I didn't at first. Took a few watches, and I think I only started to like it after I watched TP. Fire Walk With Me also took a few viewings, but I think it's amazing now.

I always liked Eraserhead, though. That one was always on all the best-movies-ever lists since it was artsy fartsy, and I genuinely liked it. His hair is hilarious and the baby gave me nightmares. I think it was the coo... Continue »

A girl flees a serial killer in the wilderness. Not a slasher, mind you. This asshole uses guns, and this asshole is JK Simmons!

JK can be hilarious and he can be scary as hell. That's some serious range, and I love watching this guy play villains. Oz, J Jonah Jameson, Whiplash... and now in this movie that looks like it was made for Tubi. However, it is well crafted. And just for the lulz, the traumatized girl accidently takes shrooms halfway through and trips balls while the bad guy hunts h... Continue »

Here is a list of all the challenges coming up in 2025. I've nominated hosts for the challenges, so if you don't want to do it then... nominate someone else! If that person (i.e. Zombie) doesn't turn up then someone else can take over:

There are a couple of changes. The TV Show challenge will replace the Documentary challenge so if you still want to watch docs you can otherwise watch as many TV shows as you can.

The black & white challenge will replace the World Cinema challenge which, let... Continue »

Anybody have any strong opinions about this? I finally saw it last night.

It wasn't as good as I had hoped it might be, but it had some redeeming moments. I didn't hate it.

It started off sticking pretty close to the book and the 1979 film, but it took more and more liberties as it went along. That whole scene at the drive-in, towards the end.... um, WHAT?!?!?

Mark Petrie could be black, of course. Why not. I had no problem with that. I did feel a little sorry that they didn't stick with t... Continue »

So a brand new challenge to get us off to a good start to the New Year. Using IMDb, the idea is is to watch as many movies as you can rated 7.0+. For some of you trash lovers, this could be your worst nightmare but isn't that the idea of a challenge.

1. Scoring:
8.9+ = 6 points
8.6-8.8 = 5 points
8.3-8.5 = 4 points
8.0-8.2 = 3 points
7.5-7.9 = 2 points
7.0-7.4 = 1 point

2. FTV = 1 point

3. Can be any genre.

4. Trifectas: franchises and directors only. A movie can only count towards o... Continue »

I haven't seen this movie in a while, but Netflix just got it back apparently, so I was quick to jump right on it and give it another viewing. If I had to describe this movie in one word, I guess my word would be... "awesome".

The title gives way to the premise in that a family had lost one of their own named Caleb who died in a military mishap. Then suddenly, his best pal David Collins (yeah, that's the name of a Dark Shadows character alright) comes by to relay Caleb's love for his family, an... Continue »

Hey bumchums. I'm trying to rack my booze-addled brain for all the 2024 flicks I've seen. Would love to hear your thoughts on what's worth seeing because it's good and what's worth seeing because it isn't. It would also be cool if heated arguments broke out over what's good and what isn't.

A list of my faves and not-faves so far, in rough order of preference (2023 movies that didn't get a wide release until '24 will be noted):

Good
The Substance
Love Lies Bleeding

A Freddy fan film featuring Miko Hughes reprising his role as Dylan Porter, son of the late SFX guru Chase Porter and institutionalized horror actress Heather Langenkamp.

First off, the video begins with a disclaimer that it contains suicidal content, which it doesn't. The production itself is pretty professional, so I knew I could end up watching the whole thing.

Miko Hughes is a short dude. He's also got a beard now and he's a bit more jacked. I met him at a con a few years back and he s... Continue »

Have there been any threads about this? I saw it last night, largely because... because... God forgive me... because Ariana Grande recommended it, in that clip I posted last night in the shout box. OK, I realize that I just lost all respect and street credit from everybody reading this, but just... just... just... I got nothing.

Having said that: I watched it last night, and it was interesting, in a demented way. I am waffling on what my final interpretation of it is. There are two possibili... Continue »

Colin Farrell is back under heavy prosthetics to play Oswald Cobblepot, Gotham gangster from 2022's The Batman. The first episode picks up 1 week after that film, where Gotham is recovering from the Riddler's flooding and crime families are re-organizing.

Oswald isn't a top-dog here. He's a hot-head and he makes mistakes. He wants respect and he's ready to take it. He plays it really well, keeping you rooting for him even when he's clearly an asshole. We'll see if he retains that Tony... Continue »
