OK, no sane person would call fireworks a sport, but it's a spectator activity, soooo... well, whatever, just keep reading if you want to read my comment.

I am usually too scared to go out to large public gatherings these days, for various reasons you can easily guess. But, there is a hill near where I live, and from the top of the hill you can watch multiple towns having their foreworks displays, all at once, at this time of year. It's pretty cool.

This year I could see at least eight towns... Continue »

Box, please feel free to edit my subject line if you want, so it says movies or books instead of stories, or put this post in a better category, or whatever you want... I am just rambling here, I'm not sure where to put this.

I was just thinking about this... I have probably posted this general idea here before, but not for a while, I don't think. Anyways, what US cities do you think need, deserve, or whatever, to have more films, TV shows, and/or books set there? It can be your own home city... Continue »

Not for the first time and probably not for the last, Ballz has wiped the floor with everyone (well kudos to Box who also put in a stunning effort). So congrats to Ballz for managing to watch every crime movie in existence. Give or take.

2. Box - 5594
3. Markus - 1770
4. zed - 901

Ok, I wasn't really in the mood to write anything this week, but I gotta say something about this. The other night, I watched this movie on the Tubi that I wasn't particularly excited about, but ended up pleasantly surprised, dare I say a bit shocked. Shocked by the unbelievable level of schlock that the IMDb synopsis didn't even begin to prepare me for. A pretty ordinary-sounding movie by what I read. However, it all plays out in the most rush... Or more accurately, which do you have access to? And are they worth it? Would you pay for them? No, but you would gladly mooch off of someone else's account, right?

Tubi is an exploitation fan's wet dream. We spent hours tracking down these movies in our youths, and here they are on "Tubi"? For free? Call me crazy, but the ads help simulate the experience of watching broadcast tv with those little intermissions. Suffice to say, it's well worth the cost. Tubi is probably the best streamin... Is the only studio putting out good cinema these days imo. While not every film is perfect at least their releases are original and they take chances. I remember 1st seeing their logo at the beginning of Spring Breakers and Tusk. Just watched The Disaster Artist finally ( I know, late to the party) and y'all were right, great film. Any thoughts and favorites from A24?

I used to despise her in this. After watching it for maybe the dozenth time, I finally realized how good she played it. The character is a total victim, having been coaxed into a lifestyle she said from the get-go she wasn't interested in. Her heart was always for someone else (James Woods, sporting a mustache), but De Niro cages her.

Maybe it's a dude thing. She's a woman, so I shouldn't care about her plight, but a fat bowl will do that to ya. A fat bowl will make you think! And overthink!

What glories am I missing out on now?

Star Wars? Meh. I don't watch any of them except the movies, and I barely like those to begin with.

Marvel? Shows about shitty side characters. Aimed at audiences who don't know good tv.

National Geographic? I don't have time for this shit!

And worst of all... Disney & Pixar.

I take a bit of joy in knowing when something I hate bombs. I read that their new Marvel show has the lowest viewing numbers of all their shows thus far. Good for them.

The moment everyone's been waiting their entire life for... a babbling on POLICE ACADEMY.

If you didn't know, there are 7 movies leading up to this series, so it needs to be good, right? Fortunately, it can be considered "good", because it's soooo much better than Mission to Moscow. That piece of shit.

This show is so 90s. It's not very funny, but it did last for two seasons. It acts as a follow-up to the films, but only motormouth Jones is a recurring character. Fortunately, some of th... Continue »

I gave this movie a fitting description in the database. Now, if that plot summary doesn't make you jump out of your seats in excitement to see such an intense sounding film, then I'll sway you with something else: There are in fact hotdog hands in this movie, and people do fellate them. There's also a dildo fight scene and some butt stuff, but surprisingly no nudity. James Hong and Indy's lost partner Shortround are in this, and the whole premise is about stopping a giant b... I will try to think of more things to say about this movie, and come back and post them. I always thought this was a better movie than it got credit for. It tried a little too hard, with the Shakespeare quotes, but it's still a pretty fun watch, IMHO.

I just quickly wanted to mention that Roy DuPuis did a really good job, as one of the evil humanoid A.I. run amok robot villains. He was menacing, but also funny in an insane way that works well. It's too bad he didn't get more roles.

Are they meaningful to you as a viewer? IMDb has their standard list of genres that I find mostly accurate. I still believe Terminator should be classified as a horror film, but it's otherwise mostly accurate. The main list of movie genres I support here are:
Action, Adventure, Animation, Biography, Comedy, Crime, Documentary, Drama, Family-Friendly, Fantasy, Giallo, History, Horror, Mockumentary, Music, Musical, Mystery, Noir, Romance, Sci-Fi, Sport, Thriller, War, Western

This movie looks like a total joke at first, but it's actually pretty fun. It's about Bigfoot, or a creature similar to Bigfoot, terrizing some people at adjecent condos way the hell out in the woods somewhere. It also terrorizes some of the locals. I guess it's supposed to be having a really bad day, after a prolonged period of not killing people.

The cast is... pretty fricking amazing, really. It has Jeffrey Combs, Lance Henriksen, Dee Wallace, and Paul Gleason, all in fairly minor part... Continue »

2 episodes into season 4 and it's pretty good so far. I also noticed how long these episodes are. Basically feature length, yet people still binge this show in a day? It's gonna take me longer than that.

I still believe the best approach is to release a season 1-episode at a time rather than in bulk, because it helps with the hype. Netflix's approach does help with the spoilers. It can be out for a single day, and news headlines will spoil it the very next day. Fortunately, I haven't had anythi... Continue »

In an unlikely scenario, common sense prevailed and JD actually won in that shit-show.

I couldn't care less about him making anymore Pirates movies, but I would like to see him make some more good movies again.

This is a fun chunk of Springwood Americana in the late 80s. It's nice to think of these frequent mishaps as the events responsible for the town's decline between Dream Child and Freddy's Dead.

The continuity is up for interpretation. Freddy is featured in a starring capacity in maybe 7 of 44 episodes, and you can skip directly to those if you want.

Give it a watch if you're an Elm Street nut.

Are there already posts here, about this movie? Maybe I'm missing them... anyway, I just wanted to ramble about it, a little bit.

The Hidden is very much a Trash Epic, and therefore eminently suitable for this forum. It features Kyle MacLachlan as some kind of alien interstellar cop, pursuing an evil alien interstellar criminal. Kyle M's character appears human, but he comes across almost like an angel, really. In one scene, we see that his animating lifeforce is sort of a glowing, spiritua... Continue »

I was just thinking about this today. I have no idea if it's significant, but I noticed that there are some similarities between those two movies. They both feature a seriously deranged man who kills people, whether it is deliberately (WaSC) or by accident (in Strangeland, the psycho tortures people, and is clearly out of his fucking mind, but he doesn't actually intend to commit murder).

In both movies, the deranged man is apprehended and locked up, fairly early in each movie. Then later... Continue »

People seem to be really offended that I don't like a mainstream Hollywood horror. This reminds me of that time on imdb where I hated on 'Inside' and people thought I had to be trolling so they banned me. I'd lost my account of many years, hundreds of ratings and posts, and dozens of reviews. Glad to see the good old days haven't gone away completely. But you can't ban me here! I run this dump! This comes out today. We'll see how it goes. It's supposed to be Disney's first mature content series, and while they say it'll be "brutal", I doubt it'll ever be as gnarly as Daredevil and Punisher. The word brutal has a much different meaning in such a family-friendly platform. To them, brutal is probably something like joking about a woman's hair. Or lack thereof.

I've never read any MK comics, but the character seems interesting. This is Disney Marvel finally making a show around a unique c... Continue »

Only 5 of us but congrats to Ballz for pretty much wiping the floor with everyone else. All I can say for myself is, thank goodness Zombie took part...

1. Ballz (2825)
2. Box (1820)
3. Troma (1695)
4. Markus (1115)
5. Zombie (146)

Anything you watched that you particularly enjoyed? I thought Netflix's Arcane was one of the best animated series I've ever seen.
