Is anyone here a fan of this?
https://www.amazon.com/Zombillenium-Gretchen-Arthur-Pins/dp/1561637343

I just saw it the other day in a library. It was actually the French edition that I saw. I didn't even try very hard to read it, because I assumed it would be full of incomprehensible French slang... the next time I'm in that library, I will give it another shot. I should be able to read it at least a little... I was forced to learn French fairly well in school, kicking and screaming, to... Continue »

Me, very simple and casual. T-shirts and shorts. I like shirts that are earthy in color and have skulls on them. Shorts are usually cargos. Love camo shorts especially. I buy clothes from Wal-Mart, Target and Ross. I can't bare to spend more than $10 on a shirt. My shoes are a mix of Nike sneakers, Chuck Taylors and some Vans. Around the house I'm always in a shirt that I've cut the sleeves off of and basket ball shorts. I guess I kind of dress like a teenager, but I love maximum comfort at all... Continue »

2016 was a bad year for cultural icons passing, esp those involved in music or film. Best of the Worst is an online show from Red Letter Media, where some guys watch 3 shitty movies n drink beer n talk shit about them. Some of the folk they mentioned died.

...but not Wilfred Brimley!

Which do you prefer?

Werewolves for me.

But obviously you can't have horror without vampires.

In fact if you research the origins of mythology for both of them you'll find they were both created out of the same folklore.

2nd in an ongoing series of what I hope will be very irregular posts. I'll try and give notice to some of the overlooked passings of figures deserving of trash recognition.

This time I'm here to note the passing of the sexploitation pioneer, Radley Metzger. I've enjoyed all of his films - his artier ones he did under his own name as well as the porn he directed under the nom de plume, Henry Paris (Henree Paree - dig it!). Metzger approached all his films with an artistic eye, a willingness... Continue »

Well, that was just fucking awesome, wasn't it? I do believe I have a new favorite challenge. In fact, I actually considered extending it an extra month. So much more I wanted to fit in, but I ended up spending most of the challenge earning Giallo and Bikersploitation trifectas.

So, tell me, everybody. What was your favorite film of the month? What was your least favorite? And what would you say was the trashiest film you watched?

I got myself a new favorite Giallo since watching Your Vice... Continue »

Back in the late eighties here in Britain we only had four TV channels & if you didn't own a VCR, like the majority of my village, this meant movie consumption was limited & mainstream. We'd get the odd late night Universal or Hammer flick, and if you could get watchable reception for the new 'edgy' Channel 4 there was some action or comedy films on every now n then, but basically anything genre or cult was rare.

One of my mate's family had a video player, i remember very well a gang of us ga... Continue »

That is a pretty good episode for horror fans. Just casually watching it, I noticed some references to Pet Sematary, and also to that old short story "The Monkey's Paw." There are references to other horror movies in it too, as other people have noticed. Anyway, it's pretty funny. Butters's parents crack me up.... If you scroll down here, to "cultural references," there is a little discussion of what movies and stories it draws upon.

My grandfather died today, age 88. I wasn't close with him, so I'm not terribly affected by it. He served in the military for a long time, so he paid his dues, but he was also a bad alcoholic, so we didn't really like him. Still, there are good memories here and there, so I felt like I should say something about the man.

One of my few fond memories of him was when I spent the night at his place, and he put a mark on his forearm and told me it was the curse of the werewolf, and stuck out his b... Continue »

I just watched the 1939 version and it's not the one I'm looking for. Could be the Hammer one, one of the 70s films, or the 1983 film, but no later than that.
The only visual I can recall fom the one I saw as a kid was a shot of the hound walking in slow motion over the moors and his eyes might have been glowing. It was a side or 3/4 shot and the hound looked really manacing. My memory could be way off though.

Anyone?

Every kid loves old fashioned dinosaur B-Movies. I know I watched them taped off late night TV when I was young. If One Million Years B.C. has higher end production values afforded to it by Hammer Studios then Planet of Dinosaurs is on the other end of the spectrum in terms of budget.

It's pretty clear whatever minimal budget they had went towards the stop motion effects for the dinosaurs. There's actually plenty of them throughout the movies runtime so that's all good.

Everything else is... Continue »

It's almost that time of year again. And I'll be continuing the Black and White tradition right here, starting April 1st.

Black and white movies only.

Even on the good 'ol HB, this challenge allowed all genres, and I see no reason to change that, now.

image Any fans? I think these guys were hilarious. Really physical slapstick comedy, and there's a definite influence in the works of Sam Raimi, particularly in Evil Dead/Army of Darkness. Mel Gibson likes them too, as seen in Lethal Weapon. Those guys are bad-ass, and they know good comedy!

MOE Howard

As in, "Wow, that is profound! A new life philosophy for me!"

A couple off the top of my head
1) The Eagles - Already Gone: "So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains.
And we never even know we have the key."

2) The Grateful Dead - Truckin': "Sometimes your cards ain't worth a dime, if you don't lay'em down."

I eat Hummus all the time. One time for my birthday, someone got me Hummus and chips and shit and then someone else made me organic chocolate chip cookies. So of course I thought the chips out and used the Choco Chip Cookies as the hummus shoveller.

image In 1986, Ubisoft released their first video game, simply titled Zombi, which was also the European title for George Romero's Dawn of the Dead. The game doesn't exactly follow the movie's plot, because remember, this was 1986, before an actual plot was a priority in video games, but a lot of the same things happen. Four survivors of a zombie apocalypse land on the roof of a zombie-filled mall, where they proceed to do things like steal guns from a gun store, block the mall entrances with trucks, and place the bodies of the zombies inside a walk-in freezer. I'm going to have to go with kitties. Was just thinking how gross and loud babies are. I really don't see the appeal. Why they're considered adorable by so many, I'll never understand. If you prefer those things, to each their own, but at least cats are self sufficient. Meanwhile, you got to give up everything, including sleep, so this other thing doesn't die. Sounds gay.

Anyone privy to any good jokes? Adult Swim played the Rick & Morty season 3 premiere today, in a loop, and starting from the middle, I think...?

As for the movie, I think the idea is probably great, and the ending is adequate, but I'll be honest... I don't remember any of it. Unmemorable, maybe? Or perhaps it'll only be memorable if I watch it another 5 times, and NOT while intoxicated. I want to give it credit for having Amy Steel and BIFF, though!

Master of comedy and martial arts as well as comedic martial arts.

Picking one out of the many movies would have to go with Drunken Master.

Also enjoy Police Story, Wheels On Meals, Half A Loaf of Kung Fu, Snake In Eagle's Shadow and many others. Magnificent Bodyguards is pretty zany and worth checking up on. Don't really like Rush Hour or most of the stuff that came out after that.

Can't post it at work.

I am pleasantly surprised by how good IT looks.

Love the cheesy original, saw it on TV when it first aired.

As a hater of most remakes, they are definately adding to this remake which makes it promising
